A woman police are calling a “prolific” offender on a Canada-wide driving ban has been charged with impaired driving-related offences for the fourth time in the last year and a half.

Peel Regional Police say a 53-year-old woman was arrested and charged with multiple offences including operation while impaired and driving while under suspension.

Police say the woman was stopped in the area of Bramalea Road and Balmoral Drive in Brampton on Wednesday (Oct. 4).

The incident is far from the accused’s first run-in with police, as police say this was the fourth time in 18 months that the woman has been hit with impaired driving offences, calling her a “prolific driving offender.”

She was also under a Canada-wide driving ban as well as three Highway Traffic Act-related driving prohibitions, and police say she is also currently on three separate charges for driving while under suspension and operation while impaired, and past convictions for disqualified driving.

Sandra Emran, 53, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drug
  • Refuse urine sample
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Thursday. Police say she was released from custody that same day on a recognizance.

“Road Safety Services will continue to target dangerous and high-risk drivers that pose an increased risk to public safety within our community,” Peel police said in a release.
