Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in Mississauga on the weekend.

Trudeau and Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland joined Mississauga-Erin Mills MP Iqra Khalid’s annual summer barbecue at Erin Meadows Community Centre on Saturday (July 13).

“It was a scorcher at @IqraKhalidMP’s annual BBQ — but that didn’t stop the crowds!” Trudeau posted on X yesterday.

Trudeau posed for photos, met with supporters and worked at the grill.

“So good to be in Mississauga,” Trudeau said.

The visit comes amid calls for Trudeau to step down after an upset byelection defeat in the Liberal stronghold riding of Toronto-St. Paul’s in June.

Trudeau made a campaign-like stop at Brampton’s Dreams Convention Centre in late June.

The visit to Mississauga also came before the shooting at former U.S. president Donald Trump campaign rally on Saturday.

Trudeau’s office issued a statement saying the Prime Minister wished Trump well on his recovery, “condemned what he called an appalling assassination attempt and reiterated there’s no place for political violence.”

In an apparent attempt to kill the former president and presumed Republican candidate in the upcoming presidential election, shots rang out at the rally in Butler, PA., killing one attendee and injuring two others.

Trump’s campaign has said he’s fine after being whisked from the stage by Secret Service agents with blood visible on his face.
