UPDATE: Power outage impacting over 1000 homes and businesses in Mississauga

UPDATE: Alectra Utilities has reported that the number of residents without power between Britannia Road West and Elgin Mills Parkway, extending to Winston Churchill Boulevard and Thomas Street, has decreased to 233 from 1,045. However, approximately 1,575 homes and businesses between Airport Road and Brandon Gate Drive, stretching from the CN Railway to just north of Derry Road East, are now without power. The estimated time for full restoration in the area is between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.


There is a power outage affecting over a thousand Mississauga residents today (Aug. 31.)

Around 12:23 p.m., the utilities company Alectra reported that approximately 1,045 homes and businesses were experiencing a power outage.

The outage is currently running from Britannia Road West and Elgin Mills Parkway over to Winston Churchill Boulevard and Thomas Street.

As of  1 p.m., the company said crews are still working to resolve the issue and the number of affected customers remains unchanged at 1,045.

A map provided by Alectra highlights some of the areas in Mississauga that are currently without power.  These include:

  • Peacock Drive
  • Glen Erin Drive
  • Tweed Court
  • Dalbrook Crescent
  • Bell Harbour Drive
  • Fieldon Drive
  • Greensboro Drive
  • Picton Place
  • Coulson Court
  • Castlebridge Drive

The cause of the outage is unknown at this time.

The utilities company reported that the power is estimated to be fully restored between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. today.
