Diners in the mood for hand-pulled noodles no longer have to travel to Markham or North York to enjoy a popular chain resto that made the jump from Lanzhou, China, to Canada about 10 years ago.
Gol’s Lanzhou Noodle, which operates a total of six Canadian locations, recently opened a brand new restaurant in a bustling Oakville plaza in the Cornwall Road and Chartwell Road area.
According to the restaurant’s website, the growing brand first brought its Lanzhou beef noodle recipe to Montreal (which it refers to as the “little Paris of North America”) several years ago and, from there, gradually expanded to Ontario and Manitoba.
The chain opened its first Ontario location in Waterloo in 2018.
As far as food goes, the menu boasts traditional Lanzhou hand-pulled beef noodle dishes with various toppings and accompaniments, chow mein, stir-fried tomato beef noodles and more.
The resto also offers a BBQ menu with beef hearts, pork belly, lamb skewers, sausage, chicken, tofu and more.
According to the brand’s website, Gol’s Lanzhou Noodle also offers a master chef collection of dishes “which blends the essences from traditional Chinese cuisines with western culinary skills to create unique and truly original top quality dishes.”
Made in collaboration with acclaimed chefs such as Four Seasons alum and Mission Eatery founder Lanny Liu, some dishes in the collection include truffle-infused century egg and XiShi tofu and a Lanzhou-style organic fermented oats and rose parfait.
