Mississauga’s well-attended festivals aren’t the only attractions returning to Celebration Square in the downtown core this summer.
Back after a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the wildly popular Celebration Square Movie Nights are also back on the calendar for 2022.
City of Mississauga officials say the full schedule of weekly movies for the summer will be available on May 3. A partial list appears below.
Prior to the pandemic, Mississauga residents would turn out in full force for the Thursday night outdoor flicks in the square, which run through the end of August.
Thousands of people would set up their lawn chairs, lay out their blankets and bring out the snacks to watch a movie under the stars.
In past years, the first showing in the square takes place the last week of May.
In addition to the movie nights, several hugely popular festivals are returning to Celebration Square this spring and summer as well.
So, too, are Canada Day celebrations on July 1, which may include fireworks, according to Mayor Bonnie Crombie.
Festivals making their return to Celebration Square this year include Mississauga Polish Day (May 28), TD Mosaic Festival (July 22-23), Mississauga Italfest (Aug. 12-13) and Japan Festival Canada (Aug. 20-21).
