Popular Italian singing couple Sandro Giacobbe and Marina Peroni will be the headliners on August 12 on the stage for Mississauga Italfest.

Now in its 11th year, the Mississauga ITALFEST will be bringing Italian cuisine, song, heritage and culture to the Celebration Square in the downtown core this weekend

Dozens of renowned singers will hit the stage when the party kicks off on Friday (Aug. 11), from 5 to 11 p.m., and then picks up again on Saturday for a full day and night of activities. The fun runs from 12 noon to 11 p.m. and admission is free.

Attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year, Mississauga ITALFEST has consistently been named one of Ontario’s top 100 festivals/events over the years.

Mississauga ITALFEST is a highly anticipated festival, a jewel in our city’s lineup of premier events throughout the summer and one that I am extremely proud to  support,” said Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie.

Added Lenny Lombardi, the president of Chin Radio/TV International, “Mississauga ITALFEST is an outstanding  event. It is a valuable contribution to the city of Mississauga and is enjoyed by all who attend, regardless of age or ethnicity.”

Celebrating “the beauty of Italian heritage and culture,” organizers say the event features delicious food and crafts from a variety of vendors and artisans, cultural and family-oriented activities, entertainment from local and international talent, a thriving “mercato” (market) and more.

As far as food is concerned, the festival features culinary experts and exciting demonstrations of authentic Italian-style food by local Italian chefs from well-known and popular eateries.

The music and entertainment? The stage will be jammed with performances featuring popular Italo-Canadian headline performers, local emerging talent, and comedians. The headliners on Saturday night will be well-known musical couple Sandro Giacobbe and Marina Peroni.
