A Toronto police officer, charged in connection to the death of Brampton teen Chadd Facey, is expected in court today.
Toronto Police Constable Calvin Au is expected in court this morning. Au faces manslaughter and aggravated assault charges in connection to the death of 19-year-old Chadd Facey, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said on Feb. 10.
Facey died after he met two Toronto Police constables in Brampton on April 26, 2021 about an ad posted to Kijiji for the sale of an Apple Watch.
The police officers allegedly began pursuing the teen by car and then on foot when they realized the watch was counterfeit.
One officer allegedly took Facey down to the ground and held him.
Later that day, Facey was with a friend who noticed the teen “appeared unwell.”
Facey was taken to Brampton Civic Hospital where he died just a few hours later.
