An environmental study will be launched to determine the best way to build the water infrastructure needed for housing developments in Brampton and Caledon.
The Kennedy Road sanitary trunk sewer project, which will be carried out by Peel Region, is meant to ensure that sewage capacity requirements are met to support future growth.
The study area will be between Old School Road in the Town of Caledon and at Etobicoke Creek and Kennedy Road South (north of Highway 407) in the City of Brampton. The project will also include a connection from the existing Rutherford North Sanitary Trunk Sewer at Queen Street East.
Peel says it is expediting the process with the goal of having the work begin in 2027 and to be completed by 2030.
The study will include consultations with Indigenous groups and other stakeholder groups. As well, it will look at route options and designs and the impact they will have on the environment.
A public information session will be held on Dec. 4 where the concepts for the project will be presented in an online format with a narrated video and online comment form:
A follow-up information session will be held in late spring or early summer of next year.
Once the study is complete, results will be published in an environmental report and be made available for public review and comment.
