A massive new mixed-use development that has some European inspiration could be coming to Steeles Ave. and Mississauga Rd. bringing thousands of units and jobs to Brampton.

The proposed development in Bram West would be at 1735 Steeles Ave. West and includes four-storey stacked townhouses and mid-rise and high-rise apartment buildings between six and 16 storeys tall.

The application also includes plans for two five-storey office buildings, neighbourhood parks and retail shops. If approved, the project could bring some 4,697 residential units

The development is designed with a central Community Park that would run along the north side of the east-west road, with a network of connecting pedestrian pathways, and laneways. There are also smaller parks that face the north-south street and Steeles Ave. and Dutch-style “woonerf” service driveways.

There are also plans for both underground and surface parking, and the development plan will promote active transportation and cycling.

The area surrounding the two proposed sites is zoned for a variety of uses, with a gas station, townhouses, single-family homes, and a retail plaza near the north parcel and another gas station and future development land to the south.

The project is in pre-construction and is currently under review by the City.
