A pilot was able to walk back to the airport after his plane crashed in eastern Ontario over the weekend.
Ontario Provincial Police said that officers responded to the Smiths Falls Airport shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday, which is around 55 kilometres southwest of downtown Ottawa.
A pilot was doing a training flight simulating repeated takeoff and landing maneuvers when his plane — a Cessna 172 — lost power and crashed around 500 metres from the runway, police said.
The pilot, who is from Elizabethtown-Kitley, suffered only minor injuries and was able to walk back to the airport, police said.
The Transportation Safety Board has been notified of the incident.
