A Mississauga man has been charged after a pickup truck was destroyed in a collision with a tractor-trailer in southwestern Ontario early Friday morning.

Despite the extensive damage to the smaller vehicle, police said only minor injuries were reported in the crash, which happened around 5:30 a.m. on County Road 37 in Leamington, about 50 kilometres southeast of Windsor.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 42-year-old Mississauga man, has been charged with careless driving in connection with the incident, Ontario Provincial Police said.

OPP images show the severely damaged pickup truck resting partially underneath the tractor-trailer.

Paramedics took the driver of the pickup to hospital with minor injuries, police said.

No other injuries were reported and there were no passengers in either vehicle, police added.
