Pickering drug bust nets drugs, loaded handgun

A Pickering man is facing weapons and drug charges following a drug trafficking investigation by Durham Police.

Members from the Gun and Gang Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Pickering Parkway today. During the search, officers seized a loaded handgun, ammunition, cocaine and fentanyl worth an estimated $110,000 and $10,000 in cash.

Mario Malcom, 32 of Pickering Parkway, in Pickering, is facing numerous charges including: Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000; Possession of a Restricted or Prohibited Firearm No Licence or Registration; Possession of a Loaded Prohibited/Restricted Firearm; Possession Contrary to Prohibition Order x3; Possession of a Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a Licence or Registration and Possession of Schedule I for Purpose of Trafficking x2 (cocaine and fentanyl).

He was held for a bail hearing.
