More than two dozen firefighters responded to a blaze overnight that left a Mississauga home severely damaged.
Mississauga Fire Platoon Chief Craig Dockeray told INsauga.com emergency crews responded to a semi-detached house on The Credit Woodlands, south of Burnhamthorpe Road West, at 1:10 a.m. Thursday.
Dockeray said a fire started in the garage and extended into the second floor.
He said at least one person was home at the time, but by the time firefighters arrived, no one was inside.
No injuries were reported.
A vehicle in the driveway was completely destroyed in the incident.
The attached unit was also affected, though it appears the worst of the damage was experienced in the home where the blaze started.
It took roughly an hour for crews to get the fire under control, Dockeray said.
“There was extension into the attic area and into the adjoining unit,” he added.
Dockeray estimated the damages to be at least $500,000.
There is no word on what may have caused the fire; Dockeray said it’s under investigation.
Peel Regional Police said no criminality is suspected.
Firefighters remained on scene until around 11 a.m. watching for any flare-ups.
