A vehicle fire on the QEW Toronto-bound on-ramp at Hurontario Street Sunday morning caused significant delays, forcing the closure of all lanes.

The incident was reported at 10:23 a.m. by 511 Ontario, a provincial service providing real-time traffic and road condition updates.

Around the same time, images shared in the Facebook group “Port Credit Life” by user Dana Petersen showed a silverish-blue Chevrolet Spark engulfed in flames, with heavy black smoke billowing skyward.

Petersen’s caption read, “Right now QEW Hurontario. No emergency vehicles yet. Car looks empty.”

The photos show the driver’s side door open and the vehicle appears to be unoccupied as flames consume the engine area, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky.

According to 511Ontario, emergency services responded to the scene, and the fire was extinguished. However, the cause of the fire and whether the driver or any passengers were injured remain unknown.

The roads reopened shortly after 10:30 a.m.
