Police have released images of 11 men allegedly involved in criminal activity during protests last month in Brampton and Mississauga and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.
Peel Regional Police are investigating several offences that occurred during and after demonstrations at a Mandir on The Gore Road in Brampton and related incidents at Westwood Mall in Mississauga.
Investigators did not specify the nature of the demonstrations. However, last month, a similar incident took place at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton, where violence broke out involving protesters advocating for a separate Sikh nation, Khalistan, with videos of the altercation circulating widely on social media.
Police have released images of individuals believed to be connected to the incident, which involves assault, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, assaulting a police officer and public incitement of hatred.
Police say they are reviewing hundreds of videos to identify additional suspects and expect further arrests.
Anyone with information about the individuals is asked to contact investigators at 905-453-2121 ext. 1233. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or peelcrimestoppers.ca.
