A taste of South America with a Peruvian flair is on the menu for a new restaurant in Mississauga.
Wavey Ceviches has its grand opening today (March 11) and will be serving up a variety of dishes at its 3700 Eglinton Ave. W. (near Ridgeway Dr.) location.
Ceviche is seafood dish that originates in Peru and can be typically found in variety of styles, many of which you can try at this establishment.
For instance, tilapia ceviche combines the mild tasting fish cured with lime and served with onions, sweet potato, corn and plantain chips.
But there is not only fish at Wavey Ceviches.
Lomo saltado is a filet mignon stir fried with tomato, onion and potato, while chicken chaufa is fried rice combined with Peruvian-style chicken.
You can also sample some Canadian-influenced fusion with poutine a la huancaina which sees fries and cheese curds covered with creamy Peruvian yellow pepper and cheese sauce.
Traditional empanadas, tequeños and alfajores are also available.
Today’s grand opening will feature a fixed selection with the full menu available March 15.
