Person hit by GO Train; delays reported in Mississauga, Burlington and Oakville

A person was hit by a GO Train on the Lakeshore West line in Toronto on Tuesday morning.

The person was struck by a train near the Long Branch GO station, just east of Mississauga, Metrolinx posted on the GO Train website alerts Tuesday morning. Metrolinx is the provincial agency that runs GO Transit.

Emergency crews are on scene and have closed off the area.

In a post on X, Toronto Police said a woman was hit at 8:17 a.m.

She was transported to hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Toronto Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and anyone with information should contact police.

Metrolinx said trains cannot move through the area until a full investigation is completed.

As of 9 a.m., trains were delayed or stopped from Niagara Falls through to Long Branch.

Update: At 9:30 a.m., Metrolinx said emergency personnel had cleared the area by Long Branch GO and trains would be on the move shortly. There may be residual delays and modifications as regular service resumes.
