Peel Regional Police Officer Faces Criminal Charges

An officer is facing two criminal charges after a police investigation.

An officer is facing two criminal charges after a police investigation.

The Peel Regional Police Professional Standards Bureau is charging Peel Regional Police Const. Noel Santiago with two counts of fraud under $5,000. Const. Santiago has been with Peel police for four years.

Police say the charges are in relation to employee benefit claims.

Const. Santiago has been suspended with pay as per the provisions of the Ontario Police Services Act, which that officers when suspended from duty, they are done so with pay.

Const. Santiago is scheduled to appear at the court house in Brampton on Monday, September 11, 2017.

“Conduct of this nature is not tolerated by the Peel Regional Police and any officer who engages in this behavior will be investigated and charged appropriately,” said Chief Jennifer Evans.

Officers are subject to the same laws as all other members of the public and are also subject to discipline under the Ontario Police Services Act.
