Peel police officer charged with fraud, suspended with pay

Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Professional Standards Bureau have charged a Peel police officer with benefits fraud.
Constable Scott Hutchings, an employee with the service for 18 years, has been charged with one count of fraud under $5000.
“Constable Hutchings was suspended with pay as per provisions of the Ontario Police Services Act,” according to a statement from Peel police today (June 14).
No further details on the incident have been provided at this time.
Hutchings is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on July 18, 2022 to answer to the charge.
