Police make arrest following Thursday bank robbery in Mississauga

A Mississauga man is facing weapons and robbery charges after a bank robbery in the city’s east end on Thursday afternoon.
Peel Regional Police say a man passed a note to a teller at a bank in the Cawthra Road and Burnhamthorpe Road area at about 2 p.m. saying he was armed and wanted money.
Police say the man then grabbed the cash and fled on foot. Responding officers made an arrest after a short foot pursuit.
The man was allegedly found to have a quantity of cash, an imitation firearm and a large edged weapon in his possession, according to police.
Jerome Edwards, 25, is charged with robbery, using an imitation weapon, wearing a disguise and fail to comply with court order.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
