Peel gun investigation leads to charges for Burlington man

A 38-year-old Burlington man is facing multiple charges in connection with a firearms investigation by Peel Regional Police.

After a lengthy investigation into ongoing gun offences, the Peel police Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing team executed a search warrant on Oct. 3 at a Burlington residence near Plains Road and King Road. Officers also searched a vehicle, police said in a news release on Friday.

The following items were seized:

  • 16 grams of fentanyl
  • six handguns
  • 12 magazines (9mm)
  • various rounds of ammunition

Dwayne Phillips, 38, of Burlington, is charged with:

  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Careless Storage of Firearm
  • Weapons Trafficking
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Firearm

Phillips was held for a bail hearing and appeared in Brampton court.
