A pedestrian was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer on the QEW in Niagara Region early this morning.
Emergency crews rushed to the crash around 3 a.m. today (July 4) on the QEW at Ontario Street in Beamsville, OPP said in a post on X this morning.
An 18-year-old from Lincoln, Ontario was pronounced dead at the scene, OPP said later in a press release.
The Toronto-bound lanes of the highway were closed for approximately seven hours for the investigation.
Just after 10 a.m., OPP confirmed all lanes had reopened.
The crash was one of three fatal incidents on GTA highways this morning. A fatal incident closed Highway 401 east of Oshawa and there was another hit-and-run crash claimed the life of a woman on the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto.
