Update: Pedestrian dead after being hit by vehicle, major road closed in Mississauga

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in Mississauga this morning.
Emergency crews responded to the collision at Lakeshore Road East and Orchard Road in Lakeview at 7:18 a.m. today (Nov. 1), Peel Regional Police said in a post.
At first police said the extent of injuries was unknown. But in an update, police said the pedestrian has died.
A man in his 70s died after he was hit by a black Jeep, police told insauga.com in an update. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police.
The Major Collision Bureau is investigating.
All lanes on Lakeshore Road were closed from from Haig Boulevard to Dixie Road. As of noon, the road was still closed and was expected to remain closed for a few hours.
