New airline lands first flight at Pearson Airport in Mississauga today

A new ultra-affordable Canadian airline is giving travellers another option when it comes to flying between Pearson Airport in Mississauga and the country’s west coast.

Calgary-based Lynx Air began daily service from Pearson to Vancouver on Thursday (April 28), just over two weeks after launching its inaugural flight service between Pearson and Calgary.

“Vancouver is always a good idea. Thanks to Lynx Air, a trip to the west coast city just got that much easier,” Pearson Airport officials posted to Twitter.

The fledgling airline offers daily flights from Pearson to both Vancouver and Calgary, and plans to expand service in the coming months.

Lynx officials said earlier in a press release their goal is to make air travel accessible to all Canadians with ultra-low fares and a fleet of new Boeing 737 aircraft.

The airline’s inaugural flight travelled from Calgary to Vancouver earlier this month.

Craig Bradbrook, chief operating officer for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, which runs Pearson, welcomed Lynx Air to the Canadian skies.

“Lynx Air will provide more options for those travelling to other parts of Canada, while also giving visitors to Pearson greater opportunities to explore Ontario,” Bradbrook said in a release earlier this year. “We are pleased to welcome Lynx Air to our airport and look forward to continued partnership as they expand their services to and from Toronto.”
