If you regularly use the 401 (which many of you probably do), there’s an upcoming road closure that you might want to be aware of.

The City of Mississauga recently reminded residents that the westbound 401 between Hurontario Street and Mississauga Road will be completely closed from 11:00pm on Friday, Nov. 2 to 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018.

The closure is in place because of an ongoing project to widen the 401 from east of McLaughlin Rd. to the Credit River.

The closure will be implemented to facilitate the transfer of the westbound travelled lanes from the existing lanes to the newly constructed future collector lanes.

Two detour routes are available during the full closure:

Detour 1

To access Highway 401 Westbound:

Exit Highway 401 Westbound at Hurontario Street
Turn right on Hurontario Street and continue north to Derry Road
Turn left on Derry Road and continue west to Mississauga Road
Turn left on Mississauga Road to Highway 401

To access Mavis Road:

Exit Highway 401 Wstbound at Hurontaio Street
Turn right on Hurontario Street and continue north to Derry Road
Turn left on Derry Road and continue west to Mavis Road

Detour 2

To access Highway 401 Westbound:

Exit Highway 401 westbound at Hurontaio Street
Turn left on Hurontario Street and continue south to Britannia Road
Turn right on Britannia Road and continue west to Mississauga Road
Turn right on Mississauga Road to Highway 401

To access Mavis Road:

Exit Highway 401 westbound at Hurontaio Street
Turn left on Hurontario Street and continue south to Britannia Road
Turn right on Britannia Road and continue west to Mavis Road

Also, the westbound express lanes of the 401 will be closed west of Dixie Road from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018

This closure will be implemented to facilitate restaging of travel lanes. The traffic will be moved from the 401 westbound express lanes to the collector lanes east of Dixie Road.

Dates for the Highway 401 Westbound closures may change subject to weather conditions.
