PAMA Just Launched Multiple Family-Friendly Events To Celebrate Summer

For those who are unaware, PAMA is a place to explore and learn about Peel Region’s culture and heritage, as well as use conversation, questions and stories to help make new connections with the surrounding community.

Throughout the year, PAMA is offering a variety of workshops and programs for all ages, families and adults. With a variety of programs and exhibits to choose from, PAMA has something for the whole family. 

What exhibits and events should you check out?


Family Fun Activity

Saturdays and Sundays, 1 – 4:30 p.m.

PAMA is holding an event each weekend of July that will guide families through art projects that inspire creativity. The drop-in activities are included in the cost of general admission. PAMA members can participate for free. The event called “Morphology” will allow participants to create their own pastel landscapes.


PAMA Kids Summer Camp

9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Inspired by PAMA’s current exhibitions and the great outdoors, kids can participate in a variety of daily activities within PAMA and at various parks and outdoor spaces within walking distance (weather permitting). Not only will they create their own masterpieces, but they will be entertained by weekly special guests and explore art and history in new ways. The program is designed for children between 6 to 12-years-old. The price of the camp program for a week is $225 for the public and $191.25 for PAMA members. Pre-registration is required.

  • July 8 to 12 – Comic Craze with a visit from Caricature artist Jason Wilkins

  • July 15 to 19 – Move & Create with a visit from In the Mix

  • July 22 to 26 – Sculpt It with a visit from Mad Science

  • July 29 to Aug. 2 – Colourful Creations with a visit from Scientists in School


PAMA Thursdays: Summer Salsa

Thursday, Jul. 11, 7 – 8:30 p.m.

PAMA is holding beginner dance Salsa lessons taught by Learn to Dance Studio. People can learn the basic steps, movements and rhythm in a fun and encouraging environment. PAMA invited all individuals and/or couples to move to the beat! Each dance lesson is $10 for the public and $8.50 for PAMA members. Pre-registration is required.


Peel Aboriginal Network Drumming Circle

Jul. 18, 7 – 8:30 p.m.

PAMA and the Peel Aboriginal Network invites everyone to participate in an evening of shared traditions and songs.

 


Gardening for Climate Change with TRCA

Saturday, July 20, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. 

PAMA is offering an introduction to stormwater-friendly landscaping for homeowners. People can learn about rain barrels, rain chains, rain gardens and permeable paving. Participants will also be entered in a draw to win a beautiful native plant or handy rain gauge for their garden, and all will receive a free Homeowner’s Guide to stormwater projects. Pre-registration is required.


Sunday FUNday

July 21, 1 – 4 p.m.

People are invited to engage with art through special activities for the whole family based on the exhibitions and themes throughout the Art Gallery, Museum and Archives. On July 21, participants can explore art with bubbles and create their own works that pop.
