Niagara Falls will be transformed with more than three million lights next month.
The 42nd annual Winter Festival of Lights returns to the city for 51 nights from Nov. 16 to Jan. 5, Niagara Falls Tourism said in a press release.
The free event brings over three million lights and 75 plus spectacular displays providing colourful visuals to Niagara Falls, the tourism agency said.
“Niagara Falls will be transformed into a twinkling winter wonderland along the Niagara Parkway, Dufferin Islands and across the tourist districts,” the release states.
Visitors can walk or drive through the eight-kilometre festival route to explore the outdoor, self-guided experience.
This year, there will be new, interactive displays and themed illumination areas.
“We are anticipating a collection of installations that will delight the young and young at heart,” the release states.
A special falls illumination called “Sparkling Winter Lights” will happen nightly at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
There will also be 21 nights of fireworks on the weekends and nightly from Dec. 27 to Jan. 5
The “Hot Chocolate Trail” now has over 25 participating hosts throughout the festival. This self-guided trail leads to delicious stops of chocolatey concoctions created by chocolatiers, chefs and mixologists at some of the restaurants and bakeries across Niagara Falls.
