Over 100 musicians bring tunes to Brampton for World of Jazz festival

Music lovers can take in three days of free performances when more than 100 players and crooners hit the stage for the World of Jazz festival in Brampton this weekend.

Hosted by B-Jazzed, the World of Jazz Festival will bring a weekend of free music to Garden Square and multiple venues in Downtown Brampton starting with events on Friday and running through to Sunday.

Featuring over 100 musicians, World of Jazz promises to show the evolution of jazz music by showcasing diverse global influences and performances by local performers ranging from students to seasoned professionals.

The music starts at 7 p.m. Friday with free restaurant performances by the Carson/Griffith Quartet at Gallery 35, Harley Card & Mark Dunn at Fanzorelli’s, Devin Patten at Mt. Vesuvio’s and Irie Vibes at Segovia Coffee Co.

Then on Saturday and Sunday, Garden Square will host sets on the main stage by Alex Pangman and Her Alleycats, Saint O, ToneFusion and the Brampton Singers Showcase among many other acts.

Garden Square will also feature activities and family-friendly games throughout the weekend courtesy of Algoma University.

There will also be more restaurant performances in downtown Brampton on both Saturday and Sunday for concert goers looking for a more intimate listening experience.

World of Jazz will close out on Sunday with a tribute to trumpeter and singer Louis Prima, likely best known as the voice of King Louie the orangutan in Disney’s original animated “The Jungle Book.”
