Movies under the stars event cancelled in Burlington

The favourite event of the summer for many Oakville residents is returning soon.

Movies in the Park returns for seven Wednesday nights, starting July 10.

“Bring a picnic blanket and your favourite snacks to enjoy a free movie, plus family-friendly activities at a park near you,” said a spokesperson for the Town of Oakville, which organizes the popular annual series.

Entry and activities begin at 6:30 p.m., with the movie beginning around 8 p.m. closer to sunset.

“Come early to ensure you get a good spot to watch the main feature, have a chance to connect with friends and neighbours, visit the Oakville Public Library’s Library on the Go book bike, and meet Sparky and Oakville Fire crews at most park locations to learn about how to be fire safe.”

Here is the schedule for this summer:

  • July 10: Jumanji, Valleyridge Park, 2524 Valleyridge Drive
  • July 17: Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, Oakville Trafalgar Park, 325 Reynolds St.
  • July 24: Matilda, Sixteen Hollow Park, 2140 Westoak Trails Blvd.
  • July 31: Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Munn’s Creek Park, 153 River Oaks Blvd. W.
  • August 7: E.T., Forster Park, 100 North Forster Park Dr.
  • August 14: Shrek, Fowley Park, 106 Fowley Dr.
  • August 21: The Parent Trap, Valleybrook Park, 1150 Valleybrook Dr.

Make sure you bring picnic blanket and/or lawn chairs, refreshments and bug spray.

In the event of inclement weather, Movies in the Park may be moved to an indoor location.

Parking is limited at some of the park locations so please plan ahead. The town encourages residents to walk or bike to the movie screening in your area or take Oakville Transit.
