“Please do not send your children to school” is the message from the Durham District School Board after a “threat” directed towards Eastdale Collegiate in Oshawa’s east end posed enough of a potential danger to students and staff for the board to close the high school while police investigate.
“This morning, we received a threat to Eastdale Collegiate and Vocational School,” the board said on X (formerly Twitter). “We are working with Durham Regional Police to manage the situation. We have made the decision to close the school to give emergency services time to investigate. Please do not send your children to school. Further updates will be provided.”
Durham Police, who would only say they are “working to ensure the safety of all staff and students,” said more information would follow as they investigate the threat.
