Police in Niagara Region say an ongoing investigation into child exploitation cases has led to the arrest of a Mississauga man.
Niagara Police say the arrest stems from a four-month-long investigation that sought those who are using the internet to communicate with children for sexual purposes.
Investigators say a man began using the internet to communicate with a person he believed was a 14-year-old girl.
“On November 20th, 2024, the suspect attended a pre-arranged location to meet a 14-year-old female for a sexual purpose. Detectives from the Internet Child Exploitation Unit, with the assistance of the Technological Crime Unit and Human Trafficking Unit, arrested the suspect when he attended the pre-arranged meeting location,” according to police documents.
Police believe the online identity “HockeyCoach”, “joe” and “joed3300” was used to communicate with children in this case.
Domenico Giuseppe Cianflone, 49, of Mississauga is facing charges of luring a child to facilitate sexual interference and making written child pornography.
Cianflone is being held in custody and is set to appear for a bail hearing.
