One person dead, another seriously injured in single-vehicle crash in Brampton

One person is dead, while another is fighting for their life in hospital following a single-vehicle crash on a busy road in Brampton early Sunday morning.
Peel Regional Police said in a social media post that emergency services responded to reports of a collision on Airport Road near Eagle Plains Drive shortly before 6 a.m.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was transported to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries. Updates on their condition are unknown.
Authorities have not released additional information on the victims, including their ages, places of residence or whether they were male or female.
Road closures were in effect for several hours, with southbound lanes of Airport Road closed between Yellow Avens Boulevard and Stonecrest Drive. Officials reopened the roadways to motorists shortly before 2 p.m.
The Major Collision Bureau is leading the investigations and no further details have been released at this time.
