One man dead in crash near Kitchener leads to charge for trucker from Brampton

A transport truck driver from Brampton has been charged with causing the death of a 46-year-old man following a crash near Kitchener this week.
The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. on Monday near Elmira, some 22 kilometres north of Kitchener, according to the Waterloo Regional Police Service.
Police say officers were called to the intersection of Listowel Rd. and Floradale Rd. after the driver of a transport truck crashed into a GMC pick-up truck that was stopped for other vehicle traffic.
The driver of the pick-up, a 46-year-old man from Woolwich Township, was pronounced deceased at the scene while police say the transport truck driver was uninjured.
Police now say the 56-year-old transport truck driver from Brampton has been charged with one count of dangerous driving causing death. Investigators have not released the identity of the deceased victim or the truck driver.
As a result of the investigation, the 56-year-old male has been charged with Dangerous Driving – Causing Death.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 31 to answer the charges.
