One man dead after a violent altercation at a home in Hamilton

There continues to be a heavy police presence in Stoney Creek after a man was found dead last night.
Hamilton Police say shortly after 7:30 p.m., they responded to a house near the intersection of Trafalgar and Mud Street.
Upon arrival, officers found a 56-year-old man with severe injuries. He was taken to a hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
Police have not disclosed the nature of the injuries that led to the man’s death.
According to witnesses within the residence, the suspect and the victim knew each other.
Investigators believe the suspect was in the area for approximately thirty minutes prior to the incident and fled immediately following the altercation with the victim.
Police say the suspect drove off in a small dark coloured SUV which was last seen travelling northbound on Trafalgar towards Mud Street.
Further details of the suspect such as his name, age, place of residence and physical description is currently unavailable. Authorities also have not released an image of the accused.
Additionally, police say they will not be sharing the victim’s name to the public at this time.
