One man killed in shooting, two women injured as police investigate vehicle fire and homicide in Caledon

Police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and injured two others in Caledon that could be linked to a burned-out vehicle.

The shooting happened around 12 a.m. on Monday according to the OPP, who say officers were called to a residence on Mayfield Road in Caledon.

The body of one victim was found by first responders on the scene while two other female victims were rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries.

Emergency crews say one man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say multiple suspects were involved in the shooting and one individual was seen entering a black pick-up truck headed westbound on Mayfield Road.

The death is being investigated as a homicide, police said in a release.

Police say emergency crews also dealt with a vehicle fire in the area of Olde Base Line Road and Creditview Road, which investigators say is linked to the shooting.

While police say there is no threat to public safety, residents should expect to see a large police presence in the area while the investigation is underway.

Police are asking anyone who may have dashcam footage of either the Mayfield Road shooting scene or Olde Base Line Road and Creditview Road vehicle fire between the hours of 11 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. to contact investigators.

Police have released QR codes that can be used to upload video footage directly to investigators.
