One driver injured, another arrested after two-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Mississauga

One driver is in hospital while another was arrested following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Mississauga early Sunday morning.

OPP say the collision happened in the westbound lanes at the Highway 403/410 interchange just before 6 a.m.

One of the drivers was taken to hospital with serious injuries, with no updates on their condition at this time.

The driver of the second vehicle was arrested and charged with impaired driving, police say. Further details and potential charges have not yet been provided by the OPP.

It is unknown if any other occupants were in either vehicle at the time of the accident.

All westbound collector lanes were closed for several hours, and traffic was diverted onto Highway 403 and Highway 410. Additionally, Dixie Road and Highway 403 on-ramps to westbound Highway 401 were also closed.

As of 8 a.m., police reopened the roadways to motorists.
