Oct. 6 Weather: Grey skies, rain and a chill will settle over southern Ontario

If you’re heading outdoors, layer up to stay warm and bring a coat or umbrella, as overcast skies, rain, and cool temperatures are expected across southern Ontario.


For those looking forward to a beautiful morning sky, Sunday’s sunrise is set for 7:28 a.m., though clouds may obstruct the view.

Residents of Mississauga, Brampton, Halton and Hamilton will wake up to clouds slowly moving in while in Durham Region it will be mainly cloudy with peaks of sunshine.

There is a 30 to 40 per cent chance of morning rain across southern Ontario, with brisk winds expected at 40 km/h until noon.

Daytime highs will reach 14 C in Mississauga, Brampton, Halton, and Durham Region, while Hamilton will be slightly cooler at 13 C.

The UV index will climb to a moderate level 3. Environment Canada advises protecting your skin when the UV index is three or higher, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Sunset begins at 6:34 p.m.—15 minutes earlier than last week.

By evening, cloudy skies will bring periods of rain, with some areas expecting showers by late evening and others around midnight, bringing between 5 to 10 mm of precipitation.

Temperatures will dip to a chilly 4 C in Mississauga, Brampton, Halton and Durham, while Hamilton will be a tad colder at 3 C.

Rainy and cloudy conditions are expected to continue through Monday and Tuesday, with occasional sunny breaks. For those unprepared, it might be a surprise that some areas could see early flurries, although exact accumulation remains uncertain.

A mix of sun and cloud is forecasted to return by Wednesday and last through Friday. Daytime highs will range between 9 C and 16 C, while evening lows will dip as low as 0 C for the first time since summer, hovering around 1 C to 3 C on some nights.
