Oct. 6 Weather: Brisk winds and thunderstorms up ahead in southern Ontario

If you’re heading outdoors, be sure to bring a coat or umbrella, as strong winds and heavy rain are expected across southern Ontario.

For those looking forward to a beautiful morning sky, Sunday’s sunrise is set for 7:20 a.m., though clouds may obstruct the view.

Residents of Mississauga, Brampton, Halton and Hamilton will wake up to clouds slowly moving in while in Durham Region it will be mainly cloudy.

Rain will start in the afternoon across all cities, bringing winds up to 60 km/h, possibly leading to a thunderstorm.

Daytime temperatures will vary across the region, with Mississauga, Brampton, and Halton reaching 19 C, Hamilton slightly warmer at 22 C and Durham sitting in the middle at 20 C.

The UV index will climb to a moderate level 3. Environment Canada advises protecting your skin when the UV index is three or higher, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The rain is anticipated to taper off by the evening, though skies will remain cloudy. There is a chance of thunderstorms returning overnight. Light winds, reaching up to 20 km/h, may persist until midnight.
