A 15-year-old from Oakville has topped a record once held by Connor McDavid as the rising star scored 20 points for his Mississauga Senators team in the recent OHL Cup minor hockey tournament.
Michael Misa bested the 19-point mark set by McDavid 10 years ago in the tournament that crowned the Senators the best under-16 hockey club in Ontario.
Misa broke the record with an assist in the final minutes of play as the Senators defeated the Toronto Jr. Canadiens in the championship game held on Monday (April 4). He had three goals and two assists on the night and was named the tournament’s most valuable player.
McDavid, now an NHL star with the Edmonton Oilers, scored his 19 points in 2012 while playing for the Toronto Marlboros.
The OHL Cup annually brings together some of the top hockey prospects in the province with many alumni going on to careers in the NHL.
Misa, considered one of the elite minor hockey players in the country, is currently trying to gain special under-age status to play in the higher tier of the Ontario Hockey League next season.
