A 55-year-old driver from Oakville has critical injuries after a collision in Mississauga.
The driver’s pick up truck slammed into the rear of a delivery truck that was slowing down due to traffic congestion in a construction zone, OPP say.
The collision happened around 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday (Aug. 31) in the westbound express lanes of Hwy. 401, west of Hurontario Street, Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services Acting Platoon Chief Mark Train told inSauga.
The pick up truck’s cab was stuck under the truck and one person was trapped, Train says. This made for a “lengthy” and complicated extrication. It took fire crews nearly an hour to extricate the person.
All westbound express lanes were closed between Hurontario Street and Mavis Road following the crash.
Mississauga OPP is investigating the collision.
