Nov. 28 weather: Snowy morning as temperatures drop in southern Ontario

It’s going to be a mixed bag of weather on Thursday with snow, rain and wind in the forecast for Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton and much of southern Ontario.

After light flurries this week, Environment and Climate Canada is calling for snow or rain in Toronto, Mississauga, and most of the GTA on Wednesday night and into Thursday.

Environment Canada says there’s a 60 per cent chance of snow or rain early on Thursday, with a  40 percent chance of flurries late in the evening and overnight.

Some areas like the Niagara Falls and St. Catharines could see up to 2 cm of snow on Wednesday night, while Owen Sound is expected to see some 5 cm of snowfall by the end of Thursday.

The daytime high is expected to be around 5 C on Thursday dropping to -1 C overnight with a northwest wind of around 20 km/h gusting up to 40 km/h in the afternoon.

Environment Canada warned of a “significant weather outlook” for Wednesday, Friday and Saturday for areas southeast of Lake Superior, Georgian Bay and Lake Huron.

Looking ahead to the rest of the week, the mercury will drop to a high of 2 C in Mississauga on Friday and 0 C on Saturday, but temperatures will warm up slightly to 1 C on Sunday.

The agency put out its first snow advisory of the season on Wednesday with heavy snow expected in northwest parts of the province, with a snow squall watch in effect for the Sault Ste. Marie and St. Joseph Island areas.
