While it’s not time to break out the snow shovels just yet across most of the province, the forecast is calling for more wet and gloomy weather this weekend in Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton and much of southern Ontario.
Temperatures are expected to nearly double the seasonal norm of around 5 C on Saturday with a daytime high of between 9 C and 10 C expected in the GTA, according to Environment Canada.
And while some parts of the province have already seen snow, Saturday will bring a 60 per cent chance of showers in Toronto, Mississauga, Hamilton and much of Ontario.
But colder temperatures later on Saturday in some areas like Orangeville, Barrie and Innisfil could see rain turn into snow flurries near midnight.
Looking ahead to Sunday, the skies will still be cloudy but the rain is expected to dry up as mercury drops down to average levels, with a daytime high of just 5 C in Mississauga dipping to 0 C in the evening hours.
Next week is expected to see a shift in the weather with temperatures on Tuesday dropping to -3 C in the evening and a high of 3 C during the day in Mississauga, Brampton, Burlington, Oakville and Durham Region.
The forecast is calling for a 60 per cent chance of rain showers or flurries on Tuesday, dropping to a 30 per cent chance on Wednesday and Thursday.
