More stars have joined the lineup for Wednesday night’s Hockey Night in Brampton charity game.

The City of Brampton announced that NHL legend and three-time all-star Shayne Corson, along with Kris Versteeg, who won the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks in 2010 and 2015, have joined the lineup.

“These seasoned players bring a wealth of experience and energy to what promises to be an unforgettable event,” the City said, noting it is the “largest charity hockey game in Canada.”

The event is supporting the William Osler Health System.

Tyson Gilmour, son of Doug Gilmour, will also be playing, along with rising star Zayne Parekh and former NHL forward Jason Ward.

This year’s game will see teammates become opponents for one night only when the Maple Leafs’ Max Domi and Mitch Marner square off on opposing teams.

Wendel Clark and Doug Gilmour are set to return as coaches, and Toronto Maple Leafs legend Darryl Sittler will do the ceremonial puck drop.

Olympic Gold Medalist, Stanley Cup champion and Anaheim Ducks legend Ryan Getzlaf was also recently announced as part of the roster.

Hockey Night in Brampton was launched by Mayor Patrick Brown in 2019 and has since raised over $1.4 million for the Osler Foundation with $1 million going towards the new Peel Memorial Hospital and over $400,000 supporting cardiac care.

Last year’s event raised a record-breaking $1 million for the William Osler Health System’s upgrade of Peel Memorial and another $1 million for the John Tavares Foundation, and this year the city says it hopes to break that record and raise even more funds.

The event takes place Wednesday evening at the CAA Centre, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and puck drop at 7 p.m.
