Complete with $7 million in renovations, the new-look Mississauga-Dixie Walmart Supercentre reopened to customers today.
Walmart Canada officials say the updated 156,000-sq.-ft. store, located on Dundas St. E. at Dixie Rd., is the chain’s largest home delivery store in the GTA. It offers customers a new layout with more space for health, wellness and beauty products, fresh signage that makes the huge store look brighter and better organized, and an expanded grocery pickup service.
An updated assortment of fresh groceries, general merchandise, a full-service pharmacy and convenient services are all part of the package at the redesigned store, officials say.
Store management say the location also offers COVID-19 and flu vaccinations, which can be booked online.

Officials add the store employs more than 450 associates, including 40 or so new people hired in recent weeks in preparation for reopening. And they say they’re still hiring.
Some 150 trade and construction jobs were created with the renovation, Walmart officials say, adding the investment is part of the company’s larger $3.5-billion investment across Canada aimed to “generate significant growth and make the online and in-store shopping experience simpler, faster and more convenient” for customers.
That initiative involves the renovation of some 150 stores, more than one-third of Walmart Canada’s store network.
The renovated Mississauga-Dixie store features a contemporary look and feel, Walmart officials say, complete with “a new, bright interior colour palette, front façade, in-store signage, trendier merchandising, layout and enhanced lighting.”
“We are so excited to unveil our renovated store to the Mississauga-Dixie community,” said store manager Sergio Couto. “We are always looking at ways to make the shopping experience simpler, faster, convenient and more pleasant for our customers. Our customers can now enjoy an expanded assortment of products and the ability to choose to shop in-store or online with in-store pickup or home delivery.”
Couto, who has worked at Walmart for more than 21 years, added the location is still looking to hire new people.
“Walmart is a great place to build a career,” he said.
Walmart officials say as part of the grand reopening, customers will be welcomed with a variety of in-store specials.
The store is open seven days a week, from 7 a.m.-11 p.m.
