New youth centre coming to Brampton's Susan Fennell Sportsplex
The Susan Fennell Sportsplex (formerly South Fletcher's Sportplex) will see a major retrofit

The city is working to give Brampton teens and young adults a place to create and connect with a new youth hub at the Susan Fennell Sportsplex.

Renovations are set to get underway at the Sportsplex, closing a portion of the centre in the former craft room and part of the adjacent spaces on the first floor to make way for new youth-focused amenities to promote creativity and collaboration.

The youth hub will feature modern designs and leading-edge technology including an E-sports lounge, and creator tools for video and music production like a pull-down green screen for video special effects.

The city says the Sportsplex Community Youth Hub will open in 2023 to provide “a one-stop-shop for youth between the ages of 14 and 29 to create, connect and support each other.”

Once the youth centre is complete, the city will start on even more upgrades to the sportsplex facility for a “zero carbon retrofit” of the ageing facility.

The city says Brampton’s recreational centres account for nearly 50 per cent of the city’s greenhouse gas emissions, with the Susan Fennell Sportsplex alone releasing approximately 1,100 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year – that’s the equivalent to emissions produced by 238 cars.

Formerly known as the South Fletcher’s Sportsplex, the Susan Fennell Sportsplex is located at 500 Ray Lawson Blvd. and will remain open during the youth hub renovations.
