A new condo development at Mississauga’s Lakeview Village is expected to add at least 8,000 units to the community over the next 15 to 20 years.

Harbourwalk — a two-tower development combined to create one building — is launching its first phase on Monday, Sept. 12.

The towers feature one-, two- and three-bedroom suites with luxurious, resort-like features. Suites are completed by a terraced balcony stepping down towards the waterfront.

Both towers are connected by a 57,000 sq. ft. courtyard with an outdoor pool and lounge.

As part of Phase 1, the first tower (facing the south) will be 19 storeys tall and contain 433 units.

“On 177 acres, Lakeview Village fulfills the vision of a transformative, sustainable community,” says condo developer Tridel. “Perfectly situated, Harbourwalk offers its residents easy access to the waterfront, woodland and the community’s dynamic districts.”

The non-terrace units are divided into three collections: The Courtyard (inner courtyard of buildings), the west-facing Shoreline, and the north-facing City. Occupancy is expected to begin between summer 2027-2029.

As for the cost, prices start in the high $700K for the one-bedroom suites, and parking spots are listed at $60,000 each.

Earlier this year, Lakeview Village was awarded for Excellence for Sustainable Development in the 2022 National Urban Design Awards.

“The proposed reduction in energy consumption centred around wastewater heat recovery and a district level energy plant is commendable,” noted the jury behind Lakeview Village’s selection.

“The ’15-minute city’ is walkable and socially sustainable, and the myriad of practical, proven green technologies all come together to make this a model for future sustainable development.”

A 15-minute city is term used to describe an urban concept where most daily necessities can be accomplished by either walking or cycling from residents’ homes “within 15-minutes.”

Once complete, the project will contain:

  • 8,050 residential units, including over 400 affordable units
  • 180,000 sq. ft. of commercial space
  • 67 acres of waterfront land dedicated to the City for parks, employment and cultural use
  • 27 acres of overall parkland
  • Over 14 acres of employment lands
  • Projected up to 1.5 million sq. ft. of employment space
  • Over 5.5 kilometres of new bike lanes including a new waterfront trail connection
