The Region of Peel has announced it’s launching a mobile vaccination clinic that will serve Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon.

The mobile clinic, dubbed the Vax Van, will hit the roads of Peel on Thursday (September 16) at Westwood Square Mall in Mississauga.

Thursday’s popup clinic will run from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and another one will be held the following day at the same location from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In addition to the Vax Van, multiple neighbourhood vaccination clinics will be available throughout September and October at post-secondary schools, shopping malls, places of worship, fairs, parks, and more.

To date, more than 75 per cent of eligible residents of Peel Region have been vaccinated, and the Vax Van is part of the Region’s latest efforts in ensuring all residents who are eligible, get vaccinated.

“While we have done some great work so far, our vaccination efforts now need to focus on building confidence in our community and support individuals who are vaccine-hesitant or have barriers to getting vaccinated, Lawrence Loh, Medical Officer of Health for the Region of Peel, said in a news release.

“With that in mind, we’re transitioning into the next phase of our response and continue to focus our efforts on community-based and mobile clinics. Our collective commitment is needed to reduce barriers, reach the most vulnerable and ensure people can get both their questions answered, and in turn, their vaccine.”
