A popular upscale restaurant has become one of Mississauga’s newest options for date nights, girls’ night out, and other special occasions.

The modern Canadian/fusion restaurant and cocktail lounge offers creative takes on a variety of dishes that blend unique Asian flavours with different types of cuisines – Japanese, Mexican, Thai, Italian and more. The result: contemporary new dishes offering a symphony of flavours, beautifully presented and aesthetically pleasing.

Not only does the diverse menu offer something for everyone to enjoy, special members get access to a secret menu and an invite-only chef’s table experience, making it one of the most exclusive restaurant experiences in Mississauga.

From shareables to main dishes and more, here are some of the best must-try dishes at Habitat Social Modern Kitchen:

Shareables:

For those dining with a group and wanting to try a bit of everything, Habitat Social Modern Kitchen has a variety of dishes that are perfect for sharing around the table.

  • Coconut Ebi Mayo – Taiwanese x Singaporean: This twist on a popular Taiwanese dish features coconut shrimp drizzled with sweet and savoury pineapple mayo and kaya jam (caramelized coconut jam which originated in Singapore).
  • Tuna Carpaccio – Italian x Mexican: Thinly sliced sushi grade Itsumo tuna loin, Mexican mole, roasted garlic aioli, topped with arugula salad, fresh lemon juice, cappers, Parmigiano Reggiano, and cilantro oil. Perfect umami bomb of flavours with a balance of fat, acid, and salt.
  • Pork Belly Tacos – Mexican x Korean: Crispy mouthwatering pork belly served in a soft tortilla, topped with house-made pineapple salsa and their flavourful mole made with five different types of chili powder.

Mains:

Every dish at Habitat Social Modern Kitchen is handcrafted with the freshest and most flavourful ingredients possible, combining tastes from multiple cuisines into one satisfying dish.

  • Paella – Spanish x Asian: This traditional and hearty Spanish rice dish is reinvented with spicy Asian chimichurri sauce, as well as a generous serving of squid, mussels, Argentinian pink shrimp, chicken, and tomato butter.
  • Chicken Alfredo – Italian x Asian: A simple classic, the fresh pasta is served with an ultra creamy house-made alfredo sauce, parmigiana, grilled chicken and Asian chimichurri. Argentinian pink shrimp can be added for extra.
  • Short Ribs: These succulent short ribs are made with premium AAA Canadian beef, aged for 40 days and braised in cast iron for an incredibly tender and juicy taste.

Cocktails:

The restaurant’s cocktail selection covers a wide range of flavours to perfectly compliment any meal, and all syrups are made in-house.

  • Crimson Paloma: A big hit among female guests, this Collin is a refreshing blend of Tequila, Cointreau brand liqueur, and blood orange syrup, perfect for a girl’s night out.
  • The Drunken Pig: Bacon fat-washed bourbon, Maple syrup, and Angostura bitters – this popular drink is served with a piece of bacon.
  • The Hamptons G&T: Not your typical gin and tonic, The Hamptons is made with rosemary-infused gin, grapefruit serum, lemon juice, tonic water, and served with smoked rosemary sprigs.

Other popular cocktails include the Spicy Margarita, as well as the secret Black Forest Cake Cocktail, one of the secret menu items exclusively available to those dining at the chef’s table.

The restaurant’s extensive drinks menu gets even better with half off bottles of wine on Wednesdays, and half off featured cocktails every Thursday.

The chef’s table is a weekly event reserved for invited guests – those who have previously dined at the restaurant and have joined the mailing list may be invited to dine at this exclusive event, a behind-the-scenes and intimate experience with the chef as he prepares a secret menu for guests.

Whether guests are seated at the chef’s table or anywhere else in the restaurant, what doesn’t change is the elegant interior that evokes a sense of luxury.

The restaurant’s design is based on the concept of eco-luxe, bringing the outdoors in with nature-based décor, plants and greenery that make every visit to Habitat Social Modern Kitchen feel like a special occasion.

Habitat Social Modern Kitchen is run by Jordan Chang, who has always had a passion for preparing good food. He has previously been known for running his own catering business, and for delighting guests at markets and festivals with his popular fried chicken recipe, which he learned from travelling to Korea.

Eventually, his love of cuisine led him to quit his long-time nursing job and pursue his true passion of opening his own restaurant.

“Everything in this restaurant is a labour of love. We do not use anything out of a box or a tub, nothing frozen. We make everything fresh in-house,” says restaurant owner Jordan Chang.

“I just want people to enjoy the moment, whether you’re with family or friends, eating the food, sharing different stories. That’s why the restaurant is called Habitat Social – this is where the community socializes as a whole.”

The restaurant also has a popular lunch menu, and is open for brunch on weekends and holidays.

With good food and drinks, an extravagant atmosphere and exclusive offerings, the new restaurant is already looking to be one of Mississauga’s top spots for special events – be it a girls’ night out, a romantic dinner, or a formal celebration with friends and family.

Reservations can be made online or by calling 437-880-5549. The restaurant can also be fully booked for private events.

The full menu is available at Habitat Social Modern Kitchen’s website, and you can follow them on Instagram and TikTok for the latest updates.
