The University of Toronto Mississauga takes a starring role in a new television series.
A new trailer for The Boys spin-off series Gen V has been released and the UTM campus features prominently.
Gen V is set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes and tells the stories of competitive youth as “they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test,” according to IMDb.
Starring Patrick Schwarzenegger (son of Arnold Schwarzenegger), Jaz Sinclair (Paper Towns), and Chance Perdomo (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), the eight-episode series premieres on Amazon Prime on Sept. 29, according to IMDb.
Gen V follows the popular The Boys series, which was filmed in and around Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton and Oshawa.
The trailer shows the young superheroes attending “Godolkin University”, which is a slightly altered UTM building, Maanjiwe nendamowinan – a humanities and social sciences building opened in 2018, Jennifer Hartman, media relations for UTM confirms.
The campus building can clearly be seen at the 13-second mark of the new trailer released yesterday (July 24).
The production came to campus for approximately four weeks off and on from July to September 2022, Hartman tells insauga.com. That included preparations, filming and wrap.
The UTM building Maanjiwe nendamowinan was designed by Perkins+Will and built by Stuart Olson Inc.
The six-storey, 210,000-square-foot building replaced the original North Building on campus. It features a six-storey atrium and event space, 40,000 square feet of classroom space and more than 500 study spaces.
