Mississauga’s new Tesla charging station is currently the largest fast-charging site in Ontario.

The new Tesla charging station opened last week at Applewood Village Plaza, 1077 North Service Rd. in Mississauga.

“This is the largest fast-charging site in Ontario,” a media release from the City of Mississauga states.

The new charging site offers 32 supercharger stalls with 24 stalls facing North Service Road and eight more built along Insley Road.

The stalls charge a flat rate of $0.53/kWh.

The City of Mississauga says EV charging stations will help “boost economic growth, reduce carbon emissions and promote a healthier environment.”

The convenience and availability of EV charging stations, like the ones at Applewood Village Plaza, will attract more electric vehicle owners, which will help increase foot traffic and potential customers for businesses in the area, the release states.

“Private companies like Tesla are helping support the City’s commitment to fighting climate change by reducing GHG emissions while providing expanded service to residents,” the release states.

Although the stalls were installed quickly with prefabricated superchargers back in July, the parking lot still needed to be repaved and final hydro connections were needed.

This won’t be the last Tesla charging site in Mississauga. Two additional Tesla EV charging sites are under construction, and two others are being developed, according to the city.

As the City advances the goals of the Peel Zero Emission Vehicle Strategy, public/private partnerships are playing an increasingly important role to help reduce emissions and help the city achieve its climate change goals, which are outlined in the Climate Change Action plan (CCAP).
